佛光山援助菲律賓　捐10萬美元

超級強颱「海燕」橫掃菲律賓中部，造成嚴重死傷，許多建築物也成了廢墟；目前正在大陸弘法的佛光山開山宗長星雲大師，第一時間指示「國際佛光會世界總會」秘書長〔慈容法師〕，發起「菲律賓海燕颱風賑災」，率先捐出10萬美元賑災。

佛光山表示，佛光山慈悲基金會昨天(11日)與外交部聯繫後，全台佛光人全體總動員，迅速在短時間之內籌幕到1400箱乾糧，送抵新竹空軍基地，包裝並貼上標籤之後，交由外交部統合，再由軍方以C-130運輸機送往菲律賓災區。佛光山表示，菲律賓佛光山總住持〔妙淨法師〕將率領賑災經驗豐富的團隊，全力備妥援助棉被、衣服和食物等民生物資，深入海燕颱風重災區〔塔克羅班市〕賑災，如果災區有需求，佛光山和國際佛光會也將發起第二波物資賑災。
