肝臟是沉默的器官，全台又有240萬的B肝帶原者，現在的醫療技術，只能吃藥壓抑病毒，卻不能把B型肝炎治好，病患得當藥罐子，造成健保負擔。不過台大醫學院臨床研究教授，將用土撥鼠研發新藥，希望可以找出治療B肝的解藥。

可愛的土撥鼠，動作跟萌樣，很討喜。不過土撥鼠對我們人類，不只是可愛而已，牠們也負責找出B型肝炎治癒方法。小白鼠跟豬不會感染肝炎，土撥鼠才會，我們會跟配合的幾個藥，看是不是能清除病毒。

B型肝炎患者如果病情嚴重，將導致肝硬化，甚至肝癌，目前健保藥費每年花在B肝上，高達20億，如果這個實驗順利，能把土撥鼠身上的病毒清除，可望治好B型肝炎，也減輕健保負擔。不過專家評估，新藥研發還須要10年，進入人體實驗後最快五年，如果可以治好沈默的器官肝臟，就可以減輕全台240萬人的負擔。
