洋基、光芒26日之戰，日籍野手鈴木一朗於9局下的一記美技守備，化解光芒向比賽「說再見」的危機，對此，一朗表示皆拜過去一直以來的守備經驗所賜，才會有如此正確的判斷。
這場比賽洋基後來居上，9局上靠著Brennan Boesch、Brett Gardner的安打追平比數，雙方戰況回到原點。
下一半局光芒1出局攻佔二壘得點圈，面對投手David Robertson，Yunel Escobar敲出右外野方向的強勁平飛球。
眼見這球即將落地，右外野手鈴木一朗趕緊快速飛奔向前，用滑接的方式沒收這支可能會形成再見安打的飛球。
「考慮到投手的球路以及打者揮棒的軌跡，判斷擊成靠近邊線的飛球可能性較高，這都是依靠至今為止的經驗而已。」一朗受訪時說道。 (接下一頁)
