近兩周以來，巴西民眾因為不滿公車費率上漲與政府花大錢辦FIFA足球賽而不斷發動全國示威抗議。巴西總統羅賽芙為平息民怨，24日提議「投入500億里拉 (250億美元)發展都市交通計畫，改善我國公共運輸」。但抗議組織人士說，為了爭取免費公共運輸，會繼續抗爭下去。
