繼單打首輪出局後，謝淑薇也在雙打第一輪敗北，尋求雙打世界排名第一，只得等到下一站賽事再接再厲。

目前謝淑薇雙打世界排名居第三，並列第一的Sara Errani 與Roberta Vinci本週未安排賽程，與兩人積分相差265分的謝淑薇，布里斯班晉級決賽就有機會超越兩人。

不過謝淑薇與塞爾維亞名將Jelena Jankovic搭檔，名列大會第二種子，但在首輪就打包出局，以2-6、3-6敗給Anna-Lena Groenefeld與Mirjana Lucic-Baroni。

另一方面，在深圳女網賽征戰的詹詠然有所斬獲，單打第一輪以3-6、6-4、6-2擊敗中國大陸選手張帥，這是兩人在WTA賽事中第一次交手。

明天詹詠然將一日兩戰，單打面對羅馬尼亞選手Monica Niculescu，雙打搭配斯洛伐克Janette Husarova，對手為英國的Jahanna Konta與奧地利的Patricia Mayr-Achleitner。
