卡洛琳甘迺迪談父：精神長存

日本讀賣新聞(Yomiuri)24日報導，美國已故總統甘迺迪(John F. Kennedy)之女卡洛琳．甘迺迪(Caroline Kennedy)表示，儘管父親並不長壽，但他的精神長存。

新任美國駐日大使卡洛琳在接受讀賣訪問時說，她幾乎每天都會碰上有人跟她說受到她父親的啟發，「儘管我父親有未竟之事，但他的精神長存。」

這是卡洛琳首度針對甘迺迪遭暗殺50週年發表公開評論。她提到父親甘迺迪的傳奇事蹟包括創建了以美國年輕人為主的和平工作團(Peace Corps)、以及美國國際開發署(U.S. Agency for International Development)。在菲律賓遭到海燕颱風重創後，美國國際開發署曾對菲國伸出援手。

卡洛琳表示，她的父親激勵了那個世代的美國人要為國家服務，並致力於正義與和平，但如今人民對政治感覺疏離，並且對未來充滿不確定。

55歲的卡洛琳是在19日搭乘馬車進入位於東京市中心的皇宮晉見日皇明仁，呈遞到任國書，她是第一位美國駐日本女性大使。
