財富資訊機構Wealth-X和瑞銀集團在香港發布2013年世界億萬富豪人口調查報告，報告顯示大陸內地和香港的億萬富豪人數分別居世界第二和第七。
根據中新網報導，調查報告共統計了截至2013年全球範圍內個人財產淨淨值達10億美元的人士(包括上市與私人公司所持有股份、私人產業及其他嗜好投資)。世界億萬富豪人口持續增加，統計數字顯示，2013年度全球億萬富豪人口達到2170人，總淨值一共為6.5兆美元。從2012年7月至2013年6月，全球億萬富豪人口增長了0.5%，而財富總值增幅則達5.3%。
其中亞洲地區的億萬富豪數量增幅最快，較去(2012)年同比上升3.7%至508人，而財富總值則上升13個百分點。報告預計，以目前增速發展，未來五年內亞洲的億萬富豪人口將超越北美洲。
瑞銀亞太區行政總裁尹致源表示：『亞洲大部份的億萬富豪仍是發展家族事業的第一代或第二代的企業家。他們現在比較關注風險創業投資和醫療等行業，最為關心財產繼承的問題。』
報告詳細解析了大陸內地和香港的億萬富豪資料，指出2013年大陸內地的億萬富豪人數位居世界第二(僅次於美國)，共有157人，相比2012年增加10人。大陸內地的億萬富豪財富總計達到3840億美元，相比2012年增幅為1.1%。報告還指出工業集團和房地產業為大陸內地的億萬富豪投資最多的行業。
香港則擁有世界第七多的億萬富豪，2013年有75人，財富總計2240億美元，相比2012年增幅分別為2.7%和7.2%。值得注意的是，只有25%的香港億萬富豪在香港土生土長，超過六成的億萬富豪源自大陸內地。
報告還分析指出高達89%的大陸內地億萬富豪是白手起家，這一數字位列世界第一；而香港地區億萬富豪只有20%為白手起家，這是全球最低的比例。
