| 澳洲首都首次舉行同性婚禮 面臨無效裁決

澳洲首都坎培拉多對同性伴侶，7日根據日前通過的婚姻平等法(The Marriage Equality Act)舉行婚禮。這是坎培拉首次舉行同性婚禮，但同時也面臨法律挑戰，法院可能在這個星期裁決此類婚姻違反聯邦法律。
澳洲首都特區(Australian Capital Territory，ACT)議會(Legislative Assembly)10月22日通過婚姻平等法，使同性婚姻合法化，但面臨聯邦中央政府以法律手段阻止同性婚姻的存在。
數對新人7日倉促舉行這項婚禮，在蔚藍晴空下，卻夾雜著苦樂參半的情緒，因為他們了解，澳洲高等法院可能在12日裁定他們的婚姻無效。
澳洲大部份省份容許同性結合，但由於婚姻法屬於聯邦政府管轄範圍，因此同性伴侶的婚姻並不被政府承認。
澳洲聯邦檢察長布蘭蒂斯(George Brandis)正尋求以合法權力廢止首都特區的法案。
2006年前總理郝爾德(John Howard)執政時期，曾廢止澳洲首都特區的同性婚姻法案。然而在2011年新法通過後，現任總理艾波特(Tony Abbott)若要廢止首都特區法案，必須獲得國會上下議院的同意，這對在上議院並無主導權的艾波特而言，顯然有困難。
目前在野的勞工黨議員可根據自我意志，對同性婚姻進行良心投票。艾波特則依舊採保守立場，除了反對同性婚姻合法化，也不願讓自由黨議員進行良心投票。
