紐約洋基明星游擊手Derek Jeter仍在養傷準備復出，這段期間球隊必須為此找人填補空缺。如今最新人選Reid Brignac宣稱，他從小最大的偶像就是Jeter。
洋基19日決定將原本游擊手Alberto Gonzalez，放入指定讓渡名單。而Brignac就是替代的人選，他先前曾待過坦帕灣光芒和科羅拉多落磯。
Brignac在20日記者會表示：「Jeter對於美國小朋友來說，可能是最大的偶像之一。至少對我來說，他的確就是如此。能和他在同一支球隊效力，真的是莫大榮幸。」
Brignac曾擔任游擊手、二壘手、三壘手和外野手，如今洋基教練Joe Girardi認為，他能勝任球隊目前所需的游擊手角色。
Girardi說：「我認為他的守備很好，打擊上還能製造一些長打機會球，這點在我們的主場是有利的。」
