據人民網報導，為了達到特殊的效果，這批健身者每天堅持不懈地鍛煉，在烈日下曝曬，並且往身上抹油。外行人常常驚詫於他們誇張的形體，但是圈內人士都以膨脹的二頭肌和碩大的胸型為美。然而，誘人的身材背後是常人難以想像的艱辛。
據了解，參賽前，選手們須進行為期一年的專門訓練，每周6到7天，每天3到4個小時。此外，還有嚴格的飲食要求，有時候，選手們一天要吃8頓飯。因此，他們花大量時間買菜做飯。他們還要盡量面面俱到，平衡訓練、工作、家庭和睡眠。儘管如此，還是有很多人非常喜歡這樣的經歷，每次參賽，他們都會給自己設立一個新的目標。他們稱這種比賽是 令人愉悅的，因為辛苦的同時他們也得到了大眾的矚目。
