為鞏固、促進新加坡與巴西兩國間航空和航運銜接，雙方正式簽署協定，避免向兩國間的國際航空和航運利潤雙重課稅，協定即刻生效。

巴西地處拉丁美洲，為新加坡在拉美經濟體最大交易夥伴之一，兩國雙邊貿易於二○一一年達四十一‧六億新元。

新加坡企業投資巴西也正逐年增加，涉足商業領域包括石油和天然氣、港口和物流、電子資訊和通信技術等。
