土耳其開通全球第一條連接歐亞的海底隧道

土耳其在慶祝獨立建國90周年慶時，開通橫跨歐亞的鐵路隧道，這條「馬爾瑪拉隧道」是全球第一條連接兩個大陸的海底隧道，也是到目前為止，最深的一條海底隧道。(謝佐人報導)

土耳其政府從2004年開始動工，斥資30億歐元，興建一條穿越「博斯普魯斯」海峽的海底隧道，並在10月29號、土耳其獨立建國90周年紀念當天開通，這不僅展現土耳其拓展經濟的旺盛企圖心，同時也完成了1860年「鄂圖曼土耳其帝國」一名蘇丹的夢想。

這條海底鐵路隧道是土耳其與日本合資興建，隧道總長13.6公里，一天可載運50萬人次。同時，為了因應這個地區經常發生的地震，這條隧道是沿著歐亞主要斷層線平行挖掘興建，同時也有抗震設計。

土耳其政府希望藉著這條隧道，開發出新的貿易路線，以媲美中國現代絲路。

這項被譽為「世紀工程」的海底隧道是土耳其總理「艾爾段」在擔任「伊斯坦堡」市長時啟動，儘管期間一度延宕四年，但最終還是在「艾爾段」手上完工落成。除了這條海底隧道之外，土耳其同時進行的大工程還包括興建「伊斯坦堡」第三座機場、第三座橫跨「博斯普魯斯海峽」的跨海大橋，以及一條與「博斯普魯斯河」平行的運河，顯然土耳其當局想要將「伊斯坦堡」打造成歐亞通吃的「金融之都」，再度展現「鄂圖曼帝國」的絕代風華。(中廣記者謝佐人在台北報導)
