台南公園荷花盛開　賞荷趁現在

台南公園燕潭湖內遍植荷花、睡蓮，正值仲夏荷花盛開季節，曲橋亭閣與荷花、古榕、柳樹，景色交融，雅緻美景令人心曠神怡，市府工務局邀請市民前往觀賞怡情。

工務局表示，一般人常弄不清楚荷花跟蓮花差別在哪裡？其實荷花就是蓮花，是屬於睡蓮科蓮屬的植物，她是中國相當古老的花卉，以前稱盛開的荷花為芙蓉或芙藻，含苞待放的則稱為菡(ㄏㄢˋ)萏(ㄉㄢˋ )，李白詩中所謂的『清水出芙蓉』，指的便是荷花，而睡蓮雖然同樣是睡蓮科的成員，卻和荷花不同屬，是睡蓮屬的植物。

要如何分辨荷花和睡蓮？工務局說，觀察葉片是最簡單的方法，荷花有圓型葉，葉片向上高舉挺離水面，花朵也在半空中開放，花凋謝後立即可見醒目的蓮蓬；睡蓮的葉片則有缺口，葉片平貼在水面上。市民正可趁著燕潭荷花、睡蓮盛開之際，前往好好鑑識一番。
