白宮提名前總統甘迺迪女兒出任駐日大使

白宮宣佈，總統歐巴馬將正式提名前總統甘迺迪的女兒卡羅琳，成為美國駐日本大使。

歐巴馬在白宮一份簡短的聲明中，讚揚卡羅琳及另外獲提名其他職位的人選，都是富有經驗的公僕，期望眾人可以為國家作出貢獻。

今年56歲的卡羅琳在哈佛大學畢業，也擁有紐約哥倫比亞法學院的學位，多年來從事教育及學術方面的工作，目前是甘迺迪圖書館基金會的總裁，及哈佛大學政治學系高級顧問委員會主席，1994至2011年期間，曾出任美國總統政見辯論委員會的董事局成員。

有消息指稱，東京政府對卡羅琳被提名出使日本感到興奮。
