台東月美站 走入歷史

花東鐵路轉彎幅度最大的台東月美段，配合鐵路電氣化，今天深夜走入歷史，截彎取直後車速將從時速七十公里提高至一百卅公里。

台東月美火車站民國十一年五月十日啟用，日據時代的站名是「月野驛」，五十一年十二月十五日改為「月眉站」，因與台中月眉同名，五十二年五月一日改為「月美站」。

台鐵關山和鹿野站之間，有五個彎曲，其中月美站轉彎弧度最大，超過九十度，行車速度只能保持在時速七十至八十公里。

月美站原本有站長及副站長的三等站，隨著人口外流，加上未停對號車，旅客量逐漸減少，七十一年九月卅日改為無人服務的招呼站，為了配合花東鐵路電氣化截彎取直，月美站路段今天晚上十二時走入歷史。

附近民眾表示，月美站鐵道彎曲穿過稻田，構成美麗的田園風光，這幾天每天都有五十、六十名鐵道迷捕捉「月美站」最後的倩影。
