「富比士」雜誌報導，據「SportsOneSource」統計，2012年NBA球員中代言球鞋銷售額最高的，是邁阿密熱火球星LeBron James。

報導指出，James代言鞋款在零售通路的年銷售額高達3億美金，而2011年時NIKE因為James代言鞋款銷售額，獲利有近50％成長。

「SportsOneSource」調查員Matt Powell解釋：「我認為James代言鞋款之所以如此熱銷，第一個原因是具有美感。他的鞋相當好看，而隨著他巨星地位水漲船高，讓媒體越來越關注後，自然銷量就提高了。」

2012年夏天，James推出The LeBron X曾掀起一陣風波，因為「華爾街日報」發佈前報導，The LeBron X售價將高達300元美金。雖然事後證實，實際售價為180元美金，就算裝設感應器版本也才260元美金。

James和NIKE合作關係始於2003年選秀會前，當時NIKE以7年9000萬美金價格簽下James，此價碼至今仍是NIKE給所有運動員中，最初贊助合約金額有史以來最高的。
