謹記去年「1輪遊」的教訓，世界球后Serena Williams在法網的首輪賽事絲毫不願放鬆，最終她花費51分鐘以6比0、6比1拍落喬治亞選手Anna Tatishvili，謹慎闖過頭關。

美國名將小威去年在法網女單首輪意外敗給地主選手Virginie Razzano，不僅成為當時的最大冷門，還她寫下職業生涯參加大滿貫賽事以來，首次在首輪出局的難堪紀錄。

拒絕歷史重演的小威此役開賽就以連拿9局給對手強勢下馬威，且就算在大幅領先的情況下，小威仍不斷為自己加油打氣，直到Tatishvili在賽末點回擊出界才總算露出笑容。

小威最後拿下78分中的56分，還發出8記ace球，沒讓對手有機可趁。小威次輪對手將是地主的Caroline Garcia，Garcia稍早以6比3、6比3擊敗烏克蘭Yuliya Beygelzimer。

另外，上屆亞軍Sara Errani本次名列第5種子，她首戰以6比1、6比2輕取荷蘭Arantxa Rus晉級。Errani說：「去年是場不可思議的旅程，或許是我人生中最棒的比賽，但我不願多想，我只想來到這裡再次挑戰，我試著更專注在球技上而非去年的榮耀。」

Errani下戰將面對哈薩克選手Yulia Putintseva，Putintseva以6比2、6比3擊敗日本的森田步美。

至於2008年法網女單冠軍Ana Ivanovic首輪則經歷3盤苦戰，終以6比1、3比6、6比3淘汰Petra Martic。
