毒澱粉風暴尚未平息，現在民眾對於飲食安全更加重視。部份食品成份僅標示「修飾澱粉」或「食用化製澱粉」，消費者無法看出是使用何種澱粉。但衛生署有權要求他們清楚標示，卻未徹底執行。

目前衛生署雖下令業者須提出粉圓、肉圓等料理的成份合格證明，但平面媒體報導，現在有多項食品成份僅標示「修飾澱粉」或「食用化製澱粉」，無法看出使用何種澱粉或是添加物，讓消費者相當憂心。被指涉的食品種類繁雜，從沾醬到麵包都有，或許你拿起手邊的麵包包裝，就能看到這幾個字。

據報導，修飾澱粉又名化製澱粉，是針對澱粉使用化學方式修飾，改變結構。而因修飾部位之不同，可已有抗老化、增加黏稠性等功效。如使用順丁烯二酸來修飾澱粉，可能會使口感較Q。

實際上，衛生署制定的《食品衛生管理法》施行細則說明，業者不能針對化製店粉一項僅標示通用名稱，如標示不實，衛生局可要求限期改善，否則可罰最高20萬元。

消基會認為，如有法令明令規範業者，就應嚴格執行，要求業者清楚標示，而非標示的似是而非。現階段，如市售產品標示不清，衛生署有權令業者用貼紙在包裝上註明並改正。
