富邦金控董事長蔡明忠日前首次進入校園擔任講師，教導國中生正確金錢觀，這也讓蔡明忠想起小時候的時光。他說，母親對他們管教很嚴，小時候從來不讓他們吃糖，而且不是基於健康因素，而是希望他們從小養成克制物慾的習慣，也因此，每當祭祖時，蔡明忠說，「這是我可以真正得到物慾滿足的時刻」，因為其他長輩都會發糖果給大家吃。

富邦文教基金會與台北富邦銀行自去(2013)年9月起聯手舉辦「希望小富翁，前進校園計畫」偏鄉理財講座，發動北富銀各地分行主管擔任講師，上山下海深入偏鄉校園，甚至遠達綠島國中授課，也觸發身為富邦金控大家長的蔡明忠，主動提議加入講師行列，向青少年傳達「需要不等於想要」、「有信用才是真勇者」等金錢觀的重要性，並提醒青少年重視自我管理、築夢踏實。

蔡明忠私下受訪時也透露，很久沒跟這麼多小朋友在一起，尤其在教導小朋友正確金錢觀時，提到克制物慾，也讓他想到小時候，也差不多是國中這個年紀，甚至更小一點，母親對他們管教很嚴格，從來不讓他們吃糖。

蔡明忠進一步解釋，母親不讓小孩吃糖不是考量健康因素，大家都知道吃糖不一定對小孩健康好，但以前較沒這觀念，我家應該也吃得起糖，「主要是希望我們從小養成克制物慾的習慣」。

蔡明忠還說，也因為如此，「我記得我以前最喜歡家裡祭祖的時候，因為可以大吃大喝的時候，其他長輩會發糖果給大家吃，那時是我可以真正得到物慾滿足的時刻。」

除了談到母親如何養成他們克制物慾的習慣，蔡明忠也自爆，以前跟自己孩子在一起時，都被小孩嫌很幼稚，因為都會跟他們打鬧玩在一起，「連老婆都覺得我沒有把小孩教好，灌輸正確的父子關係」，都跟他們打成一片。
