隨著美國經濟數據相對改善，市場對聯準會(FED)可能減碼量化寬鬆貨幣政策(QE)的預期讓美國公債殖利率在最近大為走高，更波及到從墨西哥到印度的新興國家債券市場。華爾街日報3日報導，TD Securities資深新興市場策略師Cristian Maggio認為，倘若QE退場疑慮加深，印度、土耳其公債恐怕最為容易受到衝擊。

彭博社報導，美國10年期公債殖利率3日稍早一度勁揚最多6個基點，接近5月29日的2.23%(當時創下2012年4月以來新高)；5月總計上揚0.46個百分點，創2010年12月(0.5個百分點)以來最大漲點。

Maggio表示，在研究美國與其他10大新興國家的2年、5年與10年公債殖利率後發現，土耳其、印度公債相對於美國公債的貝他係數(即與美債波動的關連性)較其他國家來得高。

也就是說，倘若美國公債遭投資人大舉拋售、長天期公債殖利率加速上升，那麼土耳其、印度的公債殖利率上揚的速率恐怕會更快。相反地，倘若美國長天期公債殖利率下跌，那麼土耳其、印度公債殖利率的下滑速度將更加急劇。

美國銀行/美林證券歐洲新興國家經濟部主任David Hauner甫於6月3日表示，土耳其一直被視為低利率的主要受惠國，因此肯定會深受QE退場的衝擊。此外，土耳其未來兩年將面臨密集的選舉時間表(2014年3月舉行地方選舉、2014年8月總統大選、2015年6月國會改選等等)，這對市場的信心也不會有幫助。

擁有24萬名會員的公務員工會聯合會(Kesk)已呼籲政府員工展開為期兩天的罷工，以抗議執政黨實施「國家恐怖主義」。美國國務卿凱瑞(John Kerry)3日指責土國警方過度使用武力。這個消息讓土耳其股市出現暴跌。Thomson Reuters報價顯示，土耳其股市3日跳空暴跌10.47%，收76,983.69點、創2月25日以來收盤新低。這是自5月28日以來土國股市第二度出現跳空缺口。過去一年土耳其股市漲幅仍高達38.54%。
