台中市長胡志強昨天針對是否接監察院長一事時表示，他還有一年半的市長任期，得把市長做好，也還需要中央的支持。

外傳總統馬英九有意請台中市長胡志強接掌監察院，胡志強昨天表示，約一周前就得知這個消息，「我目前沒有這個打算」，「這是天方夜譚第1002夜」。副市長徐中雄在議事堂也被詢，他說，「寫的人物是真的，但劇情都是編的！」
副總統吳敦義昨天在台中出席水利節活動，針對此事回應，監察院人事是明年中的事情，還有將近1年，而且報導沒有明白講出來源，應是純屬臆測，「我沒有辦法評論！」
胡志強昨天到社區高中陪學生拍畢業照，媒體爭相詢問：「是不是也來拍自己的畢業照？」他沒有正面回答這個問題，開玩笑回應：「你們以為是惜別會，才一起來參加吧？」接掌監察院，「我沒有這個打算，也不適合現在談這個問題」。
胡志強說，目前還是台中市長身分，「不會、也不適合去談」，監察院是他很尊敬的單位，「要我和王院長比，我沒這個身分，也比不上他，阿彌陀佛。」媒體追問，如果確認被提名接掌監院，會做什麼決定？胡志強說，不回答假設性問題
副市長徐中雄說，他看過報導「只有三分是事實，劇情是編的」，將下屆市長選舉比喻為籃球賽，隊長目前仍是胡志強，他身在市府團隊，也是籃球隊一員，會從旁協助。
