〔自由時報記者邱芷柔／萬巒報導〕萬巒鄉赤山村一位八十歲老翁潘國盛，擁有一身技藝，但隨著布袋戲在廟口的演出漸漸沒落，從十五年前開始就沒有穩定收入，唯一的女兒也不知去向，潘國盛隻身住在屋齡逾六十年的瓦頂平房，五坪不到的空間充滿霉味，逢雨漏水，凹陷的樑柱搖搖欲墜，每當有慈善團體幫助他，他就會以布袋戲演繹自己坎坷的人生故事，感謝善心人。

渾厚的嗓音唱著「我自小沒父沒母……」，說學逗唱精彩動人，潘國盛說，他十六歲拜師學藝，承接無數表演戲檔，隨著廟口布袋戲表演機會越來越少，加上罹患眼疾，現在只能靠善心人士提供餐點度日，每到雨季他都很擔心，因為只要下大雨，屋裡就會淹水。

潘國盛憑著好歌喉及布袋戲技巧，常在村莊內表演換取生活用品， 他曾在華山基金會舉辦的歌唱大賽中奪冠，他很感謝幫助他的人，因為沒什麼能回報，只能用他最擅長的布袋戲博大家一笑。

華山老人基金會、慈濟功德會及地方善人士協助供應潘國盛三餐，並不定期到潘國盛家中打掃，由於房屋老舊，又沒有相關產權證明文件，潘國盛無法申請到修繕補助，透過華山基金會轉介，海青青弘會承接潘國盛的個案，透過募款為老屋修繕。

青弘會理事長方華雄指出，許多獨居長輩居住環境簡陋，但礙於相關規定，無法修繕，青弘會向社會募款，每年平均修復二十四間老房子，將協助潘國盛解決房屋年久失修問題，58二手貨大賣場在得知個案情形後，決定免費提供家具，讓這位年邁的布袋戲藝師，可以安心度過晚年。
