美國人口調查與統計局最新公布的報告顯示，亞裔人口的增長，是美國人口增加的主因，其中又以加州洛杉磯郡的亞裔人口最多。

根據這份報告指出，去年美國亞裔人口的增加速度遠超過其他族群，增加了53萬人，總人數達到1890萬人，年增率為2.9%，比起白人的2.2%、夏威夷與太平洋島嶼人的2.2%，都要高出許多。

此外，夏威夷是全美唯一亞裔人口占多數的州，但加州卻是擁有最多亞裔人口的州，在2012年7月，加州約有600萬亞裔人口，幾占全美的1/3，其中又以洛杉磯郡人數最多，高達480萬人。

加州一向是亞裔移民人數最多的州，但在2001年，加州新移民中的拉美移民以42%的比率高居第1，亞裔移民以37%名列第2；然而到了2011年，加州新移民中的亞裔移民比率已達到57%，遠遠超越拉美移民的22%。

亞裔移民在加州的勢力，也可以從洛杉磯市的中國城以及小東京看出端倪，事實上，全美只有3個小東京，全部位於加州。

而根據2010年美國人口調查與統計局的資料顯示，在全美越南裔人口最多的10個城市中，至少有7個在加州。加州擁有逾58萬名越裔人口，是排名第2的德州的兩倍以上。

亞裔與加州的密切關係，也可以從商業關係來看。加州最大的5個出口市場依序是中國大陸、日本、南韓、香港與台灣，顯見加州與亞洲市場的緊密性。
