繼前月創近六年新高之後，美國消費者信心稍稍轉弱，Thomson Reuters/美國密西根大學14日公佈6月份消費者信心指數初值，自前月的84.5點下滑至82.7點，但依舊是近8個月以來次高，顯示美國家戶對經濟前景依舊樂觀。據路透社調查，經濟學家原預估信心水準將持平。
現況分項指數自98下滑至92.1點。消費者現況分項指數通常與股市、就業市場具有高度關聯性，也反映出美國民眾對自身財務狀況與是否進行大額採購的看法。
密大信心調查首席經濟學家Richard Curtin指出，本月份低收入家庭消費者信心出現較大降幅，可能與未來財務狀況有關。除此之外，消費者對於就業前景亦不如前月樂觀。
代表消費者對於未來六個月景氣看法的期望指數，自前月的75.8上升至76.7，為自去年11月以來的新高；一年期通膨率預估由3.1%上升至3.2%，5至10年期預期通膨率亦自前月的2.9%上升至3%。
密大消費者信心指數自1978年公布迄今，美國總計歷經5次衰退，經濟萎縮期間信心指數平均值為69.3。最近一次經濟衰退為期18個月並於2009年6月結束，期間指數平均為64.2；在此次經濟衰退之前的5年期間，指數平均值為89。
