【楊永盛／苗栗報導】國道1號南下125公里、頭屋路段今天上午10時發生一起事故，1輛小貨車疑爆胎翻覆，顏姓男乘客飛甩到車外，頭部重擊路面造成頭蓋骨破裂，桃園敏盛醫院1名林姓女護士準備到台中休假，駕車目睹車禍，見義勇為下車幫忙急救，設法掏出顏男嘴巴裡面一些檳榔渣。
顏男往苗栗市大千醫院急救，醫師在喉嚨部位挖出許多檳榔渣，將顏從鬼門關拉回，但仍有生命危險；案由警方調查中。

| 良田變垃圾場 水資源聯盟控告縣府和清潔公司

【徐彩媚／嘉義報導】嘉義縣議員賴瓊如、水上鄉長王啟禮、水上鄉義興村及鄰近忠和村、忠莊村，與台南市白河區蓮潭里等2、30位村民，今天到嘉義地檢署，按鈴控告嘉義縣政府及律潔環保股份有限公司，涉嫌官商勾結及偽造文書。
台南市水資源保育聯盟理事長黃安調表示，依照「非都市土地開發審議作業規範」，設置廢棄物掩埋場要有二條路，且一條至少要８米，律潔公司所申請掩埋場只有一條路，且不足８米，根本不能設置，該設置許可能通過，一定有官商勾結嫌疑，盼請調查。
黃安調強調，律潔環保股份有限公司申請的掩埋場，位處嘉南平原中心，非常適合作物生長，且為資源生產敏感區，理應限制開發，舊場設置已不當，不應再讓新場通過；尤其該掩埋場位於台南市及嘉義縣交接處，也會影響台南市灌溉用水安全，嘉義縣政府絕不能草率審查。
