| 1978年全球生活品質最佳 之後逐漸下跌

目前多數人都用所謂的「國內生產毛額」（GDP）來衡量一個國家的發展程度，不過也有人主張用所謂的「真實發展指數」（GPI），來衡量各地區的生活狀況。澳洲「坎培拉大學」「公共政策」教授「科斯坦薩」，就利用真實發展指標（GPI）指出，如果以全球而言，全球生活品質最佳的一年，應該是一九七八年，從一九七八年以後，全球的生活品質，就逐漸下降。
有學者批評，如果一味關注GDP，那麼只會過分注意經濟活動，而輕忽了人類生活的其他重要面向。

| 阿根廷番茄短收 政府：請暫時吃其他蔬果

番茄是阿根廷相當受歡迎的食物，不過最近因為季節交替問題，阿根廷的番茄出現暫時性短缺；沒想到阿根廷政府的反應，竟然是要民眾「少吃點」，讓阿根廷民眾都感到相當生氣。
香港媒體報導說，阿根廷要到今年九月，才會有新一批番茄收成；也就是說，在今年九月之前，恐怕番茄會不夠；沒想到阿根廷政府卻說，這段時間，請大家先轉吃其他蔬果，代替番茄，許多人都感到無法接受。
阿根廷深受義大利飲食文化影響，番茄用量很多，因此少了番茄，大家都覺得少了一樣很重要的食材。
