兄弟象隊歡迎倪福德回台灣打球，領隊洪芸鈴說：「如果他覺得到其他球隊比較開心，我們也願意交易。」

中信鯨隊在2008年季後解散，倪福德在隔年元月參加中職特別選秀會，被象隊在第1輪選走，但之後他前往美國發展，加入老虎隊。

依照規定，倪福德若回到中職，象隊擁有優先續約權，若雙方無法達成共識，隔年他才可以透過選秀方式另覓新球隊。

洪芸鈴認為倪福德是好投手，沒球打很可惜，「希望他考慮返台加入中職」，但須按照程序走下去，加入象隊後，再幫他洽談交易之事。

象隊不打算以現金轉賣方式，把倪福德交易出去，而是希望透過球員交易，換回需要戰力。

目前倪福德仍在美國亞歷桑納自主訓練，他必須要先確認自己回國打球的意願，象隊才會和他聯繫、處理後續。

倪福德上周入選天津東亞運中華隊，但他考量自己的調整狀況，尚未達到要求水準，為避免帶給代表隊困擾，決定放棄參賽。

中華棒協已接獲倪福德通知，秘書長林宗成表示，最快今天就會決定遞補人選，「基本上會從大名單選出，以左投補倪福德的位置」。
