代打上陣當英雄，7局下，Mark DeRosa的高飛犧牲打，成功送回超前分，加上先發投手Mark Buehrle繳出7局失1分的優質先發，幫助藍鳥以2比1擊敗紅襪。
「我知道我對他們投得很掙扎，你必須擁有所有的武器，要有得分支援、守備幫忙，以及牛棚守住優勢。」Buehrle表示。
Buehrle上一場對紅襪奪勝投，已經是4年前的事了(2009年9月7日)，前8次和紅襪交手，Buehrle繳出0勝4敗、防禦率4.97，不過，Buehrle此役主投7局，被敲出10支安打，2保送、4三振，僅僅在4局上丟掉1分。
有了Buehrle好投，打線也在7局下給予支援，Jose Bautista先靠失誤上壘，接著Edwin Encarnacion敲安推進，形成無人出局、一、二壘有人，Brett Lawrie擊出帶有打點的安打，將比數追平，隨後代打上陣的DeRosa，敲出高飛犧牲打，幫助藍鳥取得2比1反超。
接替投球的Darren Oliver和Casey Janssen，沒讓紅襪有機可乘，穩穩守住領先優勢，終場藍鳥就以2比1笑納2連勝，系列賽以2比1勝出。
睽違4年，Buehrle再度對紅襪拿下勝投，也是個人本季第9勝，此外，Buehrle近況不錯，近5場先發防禦率2.38，加上這場比賽，他近5場先發拿下4場勝投。
「今晚的狀況就是跑者沒法回來得分，這真的很令人挫折。」紅襪總教練John Farrell說。
紅襪輸球，依舊以72勝51敗、勝率5成85，在美聯東區位居領先，在全聯盟排行上，落後龍頭勇士3場勝差。
