| 開羅挺穆希遊行 規模縮水

（法新社開羅23日電） 法新社記者說，埃及首都開羅不同地區今天至少出現3起遊行活動，有數千名群眾參與，抗議伊斯蘭主義總統穆希（Mohamed Morsi）遭罷黜。
穆希的死忠支持者號召今天在開羅各地展開28起遊行活動，但許多似乎沒有很多人響應。
今天的上街抗議，被視為穆希支持者與擁立他的穆斯林兄弟會（Muslim Brotherhood）的一項考驗。
在開羅南部瑪迪區（Maadi）一場遊行活動中，數千名抗議群眾從阿拉亞（Al-Rayan）清真寺遊行到阿拉伯廣場（Arab Square）。
他們高喊「政變！政變！」，「打倒軍方統治！」等口號。
抗議群眾霍山（Tareq Hossam）說：「我們絕對不會對我們的目標失去信心。我們將抗爭到僅剩最後一滴血。」
會計師哈密德（Khaled Abdel Hamid）說，安全部隊14日鎮壓開羅拉比亞（Rabaa al-Adawiya）廣場的挺穆希陣營，讓他失去11名朋友。
在穆罕德辛區（Mohandesseen），有約2000人聚集，高喊「內政部是惡棍」。
不過，法新社記者說，遊行群眾沒有靠近軍方在鄰近廣場周邊設置的封鎖線。

| 加州提案要求綠卡持有者也得做陪審員

【大紀元2013年08月24日訊】（大紀元記者劉菲編譯報導）星期四，要求綠卡持有者做陪審員的提案獲得加州眾議院投票通過，只待州長布朗（Jerry Brown）簽字生效。一旦簽字，它將成為加州領先全美的又一創舉。
為擴大加州陪審員選擇範圍，加州眾議院司法委員會提出AB1401。該提案獲得民主黨支持，共和黨反對，最終以41比26票，即基本按照黨派比例通過。弗裡蒙特選區民主黨議員Bob Wieckowski在眾議院發言時說：移民也是社區的組成部分，他們受我們的法律保護，因此也應該承擔陪審員義務。
洋邊(Oceanside)選區共和黨議員Rocky Chavez投了反對票，他說加州不缺陪審員，並強調陪審團成員得是那種了解美國社會風俗習慣之微妙差別的人。
該提案未改變陪審員的其他要求，如必須年滿18歲，能講流利的英語，在被法庭招喚時必須身在美國等。◇
