| 美前第一夫人芭芭拉布希住院

美國前總統老布希(George H.W. Bush)的辦公室12月31日發表聲明指出，老布希總統的夫人芭芭拉(Barbara Bush)因為與呼吸相關問題的初期跡象而在休士頓住院接受治療。
聲明中表示，前第一夫人芭芭拉於12月30日住進休士頓德州醫學中心(Texas Medical Center)的美以美醫院(Methodist Hospital)，治療與呼吸相關的問題；她目前的精神狀態良好，也接受了丈夫與家人的探視，正在接受極好的照護。
聲明中說，一旦獲得准許，將會更新相關資訊。
高齡88歲的芭芭拉在1989年至1993年老布希總統任內，以第一夫人身分參與眾多公民與慈善活動，主要目標在掃除全球的文盲。
1989年，芭芭拉成立了芭芭拉布希家庭掃盲基金會(Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy)，鼓勵為人父母者為孩子朗讀書籍。
一頭銀髮和莊重舉止是芭芭拉的最大特色，她也體現了許多人認為是政治人物妻子的傳統本份，芭芭拉在大多數事務上都保持緘默，但熱情支持丈夫與家人。
芭芭拉和老布希於1945年結縭至今，育有4子2女，美國第43任總統小布希(George W. Bush)和佛羅里達州前州長傑布．布希(John Ellis Jeb Bush)是其中最有名的2個。

| 載50噸煙火卡涵洞 卡車爆炸起火

中國大陸一輛載有50噸煙火的大卡車在行經河南省「鶴壁市」時，卡在「京港澳」高速公路涵洞下，爆炸起火，迫使高速公路關閉四個小時，當局出動了十多輛消防車，將近90名消防人員，經過3小時搶救，才將火勢撲滅。
警方表示，這輛大貨車是非法運輸，兩名逃離現的司機已被逮捕，所幸這起事故沒有造成人員傷亡。
