【蔡裕隆╱綜合報導】現年才40歲的溜馬總教練佛格，是NBA新銳教練中的佼佼者之一，2010-11年球季季中，臨危受命接手被開除的老教練歐布萊恩(Jim O’Brien)兵符，即展現初生之犢不畏虎架勢，連續3季帶領溜馬闖進季後賽，本季更被看好在東區威脅衛冕軍熱火的2連霸霸業。
佛格並非NBA球員科班出身，大學時代只是第3級大學的校隊成員，後來轉學至第1級籃球名校肯塔基大學，先擔任1年球隊管理，之後打1年的校隊2隊，畢業後在當年肯大教練皮提諾(Rick Pitino)提攜下，轉戰塞爾提克展開NBA教練生涯。
佛格從教練團最基層的錄影帶分析師幹起，後來又當過76人助理教練與湖人、巫師球探，2007年跟隨昔日在塞爾提克結識的歐布萊恩轉戰溜馬，擔任助理教練，教練實務訓練紮實。

用人大膽 打造鋼鐵防守

佛格用人大膽，當家中鋒席伯特(Roy Hibbert)在他手下打出東區明星中鋒身手，近兩季又有喬治(Paul George)與史蒂芬森(Lance Stephenson)破繭而出，打造銅牆鐵壁防守球風，上季打進東區決賽後，本季更有挑戰總冠軍行情。
