服務中心專員Mark詹醫誠開始就負責中心的規畫、籌備，10年來在中部外國人裡打出口碑，許多外籍人士到了台中要就醫，都知道「去找Mark！」

詹醫誠的母親是日本人，他英、日語俱佳，還會些西班牙語，加上遇到外籍人士就醫，他都會順道請問「願不願意當我們的翻譯志工」外籍病患為感謝及回饋，都大方答應，使得服務中心的翻譯志工愈來愈多。

詹醫誠說，10年前的院長詹廖明義想到赴日求學時，求醫時有語言困難，但日本醫院有專為外籍人士翻譯的服務，後來就在大里仁愛醫院推動成立國際病患中心，之後台大、萬芳等醫院跟進，還到大里仁愛醫院取經。

他回憶，有次一位外籍學生到院急診，比手劃腳說身體不舒服，但語言只會講「picture（相片）」一字，經找來法語翻譯，終於才了解他是來自捷克的交換學生，想照X光。

另從就診的外籍人士，詹醫誠也可看出台灣的發展，例如中科成立時，有很多外籍工程師來台，最近則多為各大學的交換學生居多。他認為，不管外籍友人來自何方，他們都藉由良好的翻譯，順利接受醫療服務，不僅盡了醫療使命，也為國家進行良好國民外交，收獲十分豐富。
