【大紀元2013年10月10日訊】（大紀元記者李玉悉尼編譯報導）悉尼今日出現不同尋常的高溫天氣，局部地區氣溫達40攝氏度，使火情機率顯著增高。當天，位於世紀公園（Centennial Park）的一棟八層公寓突發大火，紐省10處消防與救援部門調動超過50名的消防人員趕到現場滅火。失火公寓中的57戶全部被疏散。其中一人被困電梯井，後被成功救出，此大火拼無人員傷亡。

據悉大火是從下午4點開始燃燒。世紀公園庫克路（Cook Rd）80號附近的區域被濃煙籠罩。消防和救援部門發言人穆林斯（Greg Mullins）表示，「火勢很強勁」。此次火災連屋頂棚都被燃著了。「自火勢爆發後，我們接到了無數的電話，因此我們將此次火情升級到嚴重級別。」

穆林斯說，一名被成功救出的困在電梯中的住戶是因當時看到走廊有濃煙，不確定是否可以使用樓梯，變得驚慌失措後被困。

一名目擊者稱，當她正開車經過事發地前往悉尼足球場時，她看見黑色的煙霧越來越濃。「我看到庫克路上一棟公寓的頂層被大火吞噬。我此生從未見過此景，火焰又紅又亮，約有10米之高。整個樓頂部的單元都被燒著了。」她說。

二樓的一名63歲住戶科特（Liam Cotter）說，那火焰非常可怕。「我剛才聽到警報器響了，我的鄰居說每個人都必須迅速離開這棟樓。火焰非常大，非常可怕，當時消防隊員已經在用高壓水龍滅火了，他們非常高效。 」

穆林斯說，目前火情已被控制。但還不確定是否是高溫天氣引發了此次火災。
