1. 這裡的finished不是過去式, 而是過去分詞.
因為 finish 的過去式和過去分詞都是 finished, 所以你可能因此產生誤解.
這裡用完成式的原因是因為 after 這個連接詞有時間先後的概念.
after 的後半部做完後, 才做 after 的前半部

have + 動詞的過去分詞 = 完成式.

Go on doing the other exercise after you have finished this one.
在你完成了這項運動後, 繼續做剩下的那項運動.

2. the other 代表剩下的那個. 不代表總共只有兩個. 有可能有十個, 但是他已經做了九個, 只剩下一個. 這時也是用 the other.
another 代表不特定對象的另一個, 無從知道還剩下多少個
如果原句改成:
Go on doing another exercise after you have finished this one.
意思是: 在你完成這項運動後, 繼續做另一項運動.

只有兩個的說法: one is ....., and the other is .....
三個以上, one is ......, another is ....., another is ....., and the other is ........
