南韓現代汽車表示，研發部門總裁權文植與另兩名主管已於11日辭職，為今年來多起產品品質瑕疵導致召修的事件負責。

現代11日在聲明中說：「這樁最新的人事變動，代表我們對致力於品質管理堅定不移，並再次彰顯我們改善研發競爭力的意願。」

現代並未宣布取代權文植接掌研發部門的人選，但已晉升兩名員工，接管與權文植同時辭職的主管在工程與電子技術方面的職務。

現代預定本月稍晚推出升級版豪華車Genesis，新款Sonata也將在明年上市。技術長此時下台，無疑將打擊現代企圖在高檔汽車市場提升品牌知名度的努力。

但NH投資證券公司分析師李尚賢（音譯）說：「現代或許是在發表新車款前，試圖使人耳目一新，以展現出對於產品品質的在意程度。現代已目睹豐田或其他車商因品質管理問題遭受的衝擊，將竭力避免重蹈覆轍。」

現代12日盤中一度勁揚2.02%，終場收漲0.61%至24.9萬韓元。

現代與旗下的起亞汽車，今年4月因停車燈出問題，在美國召修逾170萬輛車；上周則因防鎖死煞車系統（ABS）的瑕疵，召修2007年12月至去年3月出廠的Genesis。
