【於慶中／綜合外電報導】美國賓州中年女子惠倫(Yvonne Whalen)，日前在當地的量販超市買了一盒自己最喜歡吃的葡萄回家，當她在廚房水槽中拿出整串的葡萄準備清洗時，從葡萄串中爬出一隻黑色的蜘蛛，「我最怕蜘蛛了，只要看到蜘蛛都會叫人來幫我處理掉」，剛好水槽中有個保鮮盒，惠倫將葡萄對著保鮮盒一甩，把蜘蛛甩到保鮮盒裡再用蓋子蓋上，葡萄則丟進水槽泡著。
惠倫拿手機拍下盒中的蜘蛛，並將照片上網，她本來也沒多想，只是覺得自己很倒楣，買愛吃的葡萄居然會有活的蜘蛛在上面，但照片傳出去沒幾天，就有「蜘蛛達人」和她連絡，並告訴她：「那是一隻還沒成熟的黑寡婦蜘蛛，母的，妳很幸運，如果被咬一口，絕對進醫院」。惠倫表示：「嚇死我了，當時我的手指距離這隻蜘蛛只有短短幾公分」，「我曾看過水果上面有蟲，但沒看過有這麼大的蜘蛛」。
媒體深入了解後更是擔心，原來在過去幾個月內，包括密西根州、密蘇里州、明尼蘇達州、威斯康辛州都有類似案例，都是在成串的葡萄裡爬出劇毒的黑寡婦蜘蛛。專家對於這樣的現象也沒有頭緒，只能提醒消費者要小心。
