印度媒體《亞洲年代》(The Asian Age)昨(28)日報導，印度陸軍為了防範北方強鄰中國，在北方司令部、東方司令部與中央司令部設置「中國小組」，招聚中國通，並且加強軍方人員的中文能力，要求他們熟悉中國文化。

《亞洲年代》的報導指出，印度軍方已經採取行動，要提升對中國的瞭解。印度軍方高層過去在例行的「國旗會議」(flag meetings)以及發生事故後所召開的緊急會議中，深切體會到對中國語言和中國文化的掌握是大有益處的。

印度軍方一直嚴密觀察中國軍方的舉動，避免讓自己的國家安全利益受到影響。印度政府不久前剛許可軍方在東部設置1個山地打擊兵團。

為了降低雙方的軍隊在「實質控制線」(the Line of Actual Control)爆發衝突的可能性，印度與中國最近簽署了「邊防合作協定」。儘管如此，中國軍方在亞洲的耀武揚威以及國防支出的增加，都讓印度感到芒刺在背。
