基隆市跨越台鐵基隆站的人行陸橋昨午倒塌壓斷台鐵電車線，列車調度大亂，經台鐵漏夜搶修，昨晚十一時一分恢復雙向通車。消息一出，外界以為台鐵「又出包」，矛頭紛紛指向台鐵。今天是鐵路節，「生日」前夕碰上這起意外，台鐵大呼倒楣，直說「我們也是受害者」，將依法向基隆市政府求償。但因非歸責於台鐵，旅客無法獲得賠償。

基隆市政府工務處指出，這次意外並非橋梁斷裂，而是半月形橋段疑因地震及周邊工程施工造成支撐點位移翻轉掉落；對於台鐵的求償，將等鑑定結果出爐，確定意外原因再跟台鐵討論。

昨天倒塌的陸橋，從站外跨越鐵道到車站另一頭，是基隆市府為方便民眾所搭建，維護的權責屬基隆市府。台鐵基隆站站長王金水表示，這座陸橋位於月台末端上方，約四十年歷史，看外觀「還好好的」，沒有看出任何危險的跡象。

陸橋倒塌後，台鐵基隆—七堵區段一度封閉，一個小時後該路段改由單線雙向運轉。原基隆市府估計要到今天凌晨才能把倒塌天橋的殘骸清理完，後來提前到傍晚近六時完成，台鐵工務、電力單位馬上進入搶修，近午夜時分完全通車。
