【賴宇萍╱綜合外電報導】對中國人來說，雞爪是一道美食，但在英國人眼裡，卻被視為該丟進垃圾場的廢物。不過英國政府看好，出口雞爪、豬腳等禽畜內臟與殘餘物，可望為英國畜禽業農戶每年增加數百萬英鎊的收入，目前正與中國當局商討相關出口事宜。

在英國，雞爪被視為沒有食用價值的廢物，每周有數百萬支雞爪被扔進垃圾掩埋場。不過中國去年可是從海外進口了約23.17萬噸的雞爪，價值約2.14億英鎊（101億元台幣）。

據英國政府估計，向中國出口雞爪，將為每一隻雞增加15%的利潤，約合1.5英鎊（71元台幣）。

會外三號種子印度選手班布理八月底在台灣奪下台塑盃未來賽第二站男單冠軍，當時這位年輕的印度人就曾宣布他將歸來，「是時候回到挑戰賽了」，班布理說。這次他果然帶著萬全的準備抵台，面對我國小將楊紹琦的挑戰，班布理6：1、6：0輕鬆晉級。印度人雖然沒有發出太多的ACE球，但是靠著高達八成八的一發得分率，並且7度攻破楊紹琦發球局。
 
八月台塑盃第一站單打冠軍賽，班布理因脫水雙腿抽筋將金盃奉送給我國黃亮祺，提前一天進場練球的班布理說：「我感覺身體很好，這次沒有問題」。
 
昨日會外首輪唯一苦戰三盤勝出的國體選手胡浩陽，面對左撇子黃朝佑的「磨球策略」，一度在第二盤中出現暈眩嘔吐的現象，好在他經過催吐之後，果然神清氣爽的搶下關鍵第三盤，贏得比賽，比數6：3、2：6、6：3。胡浩陽賽後表示，第一盤就已經感覺身體出現異狀，但當時不是很擔心，直到第二盤身體越來越不對勁，他才請了防護員上場。胡浩陽下一場將挑戰印度第六種子卡魯紐戴（SINGH,Karunuday），卡魯紐戴以6：4，6：1擊敗持外卡參賽的14歲小將駱建勛。
 
高雄九月秋陽炙熱，不少選手首日出賽被晒的頭暈眼花，再加上陽明網球場場地偏慢，身兼選手及教練的陳奕達指出，在慢速場地上出賽，每一個得分，都需要多拍來回，炎熱的天氣也會加速選手的體力消耗，選手的意志力與耐性倍受考驗。
