明年七合一地方選舉，民進黨確定由前行政院長游錫堃代表角逐新北市長。現任新北市長朱立倫還是不改低調，對連任與否不任口風。黨內評估，民進黨「大老」出陣，讓國民黨在新北市的壓力大減，朱立倫連任與否具有高度彈性，估計到農曆年前後，才會明朗。

國民黨發言人楊偉中表示，國民黨會有自己的提名時程，不受其他政黨影響。朱立倫今早受訪時則表示，歡迎每一位關心新北市政的人參與（新北市長選舉）。他說，對他來講，現在最重要是把現任市長工作做好，「選舉是一年後」。他強調，自己不是在野黨而是現任市長，必須把市政做好。

國民黨黨內人士坦言，民進黨由游錫堃出戰新北市，對國民黨來說壓力確實減輕不小，朱立倫連不連任，都可保持彈性，已經不太需要太早表態。
